Officers' Concern For The Environment

June 18, 2011, the whole team of the SSG planted more than a hundred propagules of mangrove in Brgy. Punta Taytay, Bacolod City.
The team headed by their adviser Mr. Lemuel Gonzaga did their part in preserving the nature for the future inhabitants of the Earth. They were assisted by the mangrove coordinator of the barangay, Mr. John Consi.
The team was composed of the SSG president Joefayca Yvette Baja, vice president Rose Muleta, secretary Roma Jane Hechanova, treasurer Sofayca Ylisse Baja, PIO, Cyril Buenavista, auditor Jave Javellana and Peace Officer Miguel Bacaoco together with the representatives from different years which include Mary Ann Meniao, Mary Jo Alulod, Catherine Dela Cerna, Patricia Villalon,
Mangroves play a big role to the local villagers as well as to the whole city of Bacolod. They act as a sanctuary to fishes which is one of the most important foods of the Filipino diet and to other organisms too. Mangroves planted along the coast also protect the place from harmful tidal waves that might occur during storms. There are still a lot more benefits mangrove can give to humans.
The SSG was just one of many other organizations that conduct mangrove planting activity in Brgy. Punta Taytay. All of these organizations do such activity like that for a purpose which is for the people of the future generation.
